Terry Carroll talks about being a student in the 1970s at NC State University.
Terry Carroll, interviewed for the Student Leadership Initiative

Continuing the week-long launch of the Student Leadership Initiative website , the focus today is on Terry Carroll .  Why did you decide to attend NC State? Former Student Body President Terry Carroll (1973-1974) came to State in 1965 to study aerospace engineering, but like many students, he changed his major, graduating in 1974 with a degree in science education.  In excerpts from his interview , Carroll describes that seeing Sputnik in 1957 let to an interest in space exploration, that his experiences in large classes at NC State taught him how to learn, and that the early 1970s counterculture affected students' lives on campus.  A full transcript of the Carroll interview is available upon request .
